Sliding Door Locks and Patio Bolts and Repairs

Do you live in Sydney and need your sliding door lock adjusted and repaired? We have you covered.

Or do you live in Sydney and need a replacement sliding door lock and patio bolt installed on your sliding door? We can help.

We can fit new sliding door locks and patio bolts on older brands of sliding doors from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and present.

What are all the types of glass sliding door locks?

Glass sliding doors will have three types of locks.

  • Sliding door locks (handle) will have an interior and exterior handle held together by connecting fasteners.
  • Mortice locks (handle) will sit in a recess or pocket in the locking stile of the sliding door.
  • Patio bolts will be installed on the interior at the top or bottom of the sliding door.

We fit key-lockable sliding door locks and patio bolts to glass sliding doors in our repairs.

What are all the parts of a sliding door lock?

The parts to a sliding door lock are as follows:

  • The sliding door lock will consist of two main parts. The pull handle and the striker.
  • The pull handle is located on the sliding door’s locking stile (frame).
  • The striker is located on the locking side of the door jam.
  • When the glass sliding door is shut, the pull handle and striker will come together and engage.
  • The pull handle will technically have an interior pull handle and an exterior pull handle.
  • The lock body will be located underneath the interior sliding door pull handle.
  • The two pull handles and the lock body will be fastened together with a fastening screw through the locking stile of the glass sliding door.
  • If the sliding door lock is key lockable, then it will have an exterior and interior cylinder (barrel)
  • The interior cylinder will have an adjustable tail bar to suit all stile thicknesses of glass sliding doors.

Why has your glass sliding door handle come loose?

The primary reason sliding door handles become loose is that the sliding door rollers will fail, the door will become difficult to slide, and all that force will go onto the handle, rendering it loose and unusable.

Can my loose glass sliding door handle be repaired?

Sliding door handles can be tightened and adjusted so that they are no longer loose; however, regular abuse will strip the thread on the fixing fasteners, making them unable to be pulled and adjusted.

We will attempt to save the existing handle to keep costs low. We will even go as far as replacing the sleeve nuts and screws if we can.

Can you replace my glass sliding door handle?

Yes, we can.

If the handle has deteriorated enough so that it cannot be repaired, we will offer to replace it. We carry a quality universal handle that will fit most sliding doors.

We can even replace handles on older sliding doors, giving them a modern look.

Sliding doors that slide on the outside usually require exterior handles that are not pronounced so as not to interfere with the sliding screen door. We carry these exterior handles.

Our handles will give the sliding door a 5-pin cylinder to be key-locked on either side. They will also include a second key.

The handles we use are simple yet well-made and require little maintenance. They are black in colour and modern in appearance.

We can even offer to have the handles keyed alike if you require more handles on your other sliding doors.

Do you have any other locks for my glass sliding door?

Yes, we do.

We can install patio bolts onto glass sliding doors when we do our repairs.

Sliding door handle locks are usually effective for securing sliding doors; however, thieves and home intruders can pick the lock cylinders, gaining them access to your home.

Some sliding doors with only a handle lock can even be jiggled loose from the door jam, allowing intruders to gain unwanted access.

Therefore, sliding door handles may not be sufficient for securing sliding doors, so we also offer patio bolts.

Patio bolts are locks fastened onto sliding doors inside, and a large bolt will enter the door jam’s head or sill. These types of locks can only be locked from the inside.

When installed correctly and with handle locks, your sliding door will be inaccessible for even the cleverest home intruder.

What are all the parts of a patio bolt?

The lock body will be fitted onto the interior frame of the sliding door.

  • Strike (ferrule) will be fitted on the head (top) or sill (bottom) for the bolt from the lock body to marry together.
  • Case packers may be installed to help align the lock body with the strike.
  • The Bolt will be stainless steel.

Sydney.

Thanks to the team at LRT Sliding door repairs! I was really impressed with the speed and care taken when carrying out work on my two glass doors. Your business cards have been handed out to everyone I know! Cheers

I've had problems with a sliding door ever since we moved in three years ago. It grew worse until it eventually didn’t open at all. I phoned LRT and to my pleasant surprise they came out the very next day!

Very polite and quick

Gordon

The young man who came out and fixed my door did an amazing job. He thoroughly disassembled the door and replaced all the broken and worn parts. An hour or so later the door was working perfectly. Gordon has given me a sliding door that will work beautifully for years and because I don't have to replace it with a new door, they saved me thousands.

Congratulations LRT

Anthony

Our balcony sliding door has been very difficult to open since we moved in. It had deteriorated to the point where I was unable to move it. I began to research the cost of a new sliding door and come across LRT website. They were very helpful over the phone and fixed my door for a fraction of the price of a new one.
